Ingredients:
- 4 cups fresh blackberries
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
Instructions:
- Prepare the Blackberries: Rinse your blackberries under cold water and remove any stems or leaves.
- Make the Jam: In a large saucepan, combine the blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir over low heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Increase Heat: Turn up the heat to high and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil. Keep boiling, stirring often, until the mixture reaches 220°F (105°C) on a candy or instant-read thermometer. This should take around 10 to 15 minutes.
- Test the Jam: To test if the jam is set, spoon a small amount onto a cold plate and put it in the freezer for a few minutes. If it thickens to a jam-like consistency, it’s ready. If it’s still too thin, continue boiling and testing every few minutes.
- Jar the Jam: Once the jam has reached its setting point, remove it from the heat. Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Seal the jars while the jam is still hot.
- Store: Allow jars to cool at room temperature. Check the seals before storing in a cool, dark place.
